Perfect Pair: SinfulColors Beau Khaki & Confetti My Favorite Martian

SinfulColors Beau Khaki Confetti My Favorite Martian 4Despite the questionable polish name, I quite like SinfulColors Beau Khaki. Since picking it up at Walgreens I’ve been getting alot of wear out of it. Beau Khaki is a lovely color but it is a neutral so eventually I did get a tad bit bored. I wanted to remedy this problem without doing an entirely new manicure so I went on the hunt for something I could use as a top coat over Beau Khaki.

As I was digging through my Melmer I ran across Confetti My Favorite Martian. It had been a good while since I’d used that particular polish but I remembered using it as a top coat over MAC Dry Martini. I thought it might be a good topper for Beau Khaki.

Turns out I was right. I used just one coat of My Favorite Martian over Beau Khaki and was thrilled with the result. Beau Khaki lightened up My Favorite Martian considerably and the flaky shimmer really stood out. When I was wearing this manicure I even discovered it was the exact color of a lime. Perfect!

As always, there are more swatches below the jump 🙂

Confetti Rhapsody in Blue

I bought this polish for one reason; to wear under deborah lippmann Today Was a Fairytale. So I didn’t much care how it looked on its own. In the bottle Rhapsody in Blue looks like a frosted steel blue gray with some shimmer. Simply because it is frosted, I would not have picked this up thinking I would wear it alone. But as it turns out, I didn’t dislike this as much as I thought I would!

Rhapsody in Blue is a steel gray packed with shimmer but it is only slightly frosty. Just frosty enough to look glowy on the nail. The formula is not fantastic; it’s a bit on the thin side and can be patchy. That of course won’t matter if I’m topping it with glitter, but it is quite noticeable. You can really see it on the macro shot below the jump.

This is certainly not my favorite Confetti polish (that goes to Happy Birthday!), but I think it’s a nice addition to my collection.

Perfect Pair: OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window & Confetti My Favorite Martian

This manicure is the definition of ugly pretty. At least to me! Some of you might just find this plain ugly, which I did at first, but it grew on me 🙂

I was having a bit of a hard time warming up to OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window. Even after wearing it a couple of times I was still on the fence. In an attempt to cure my boredom with my manicure I decided to top it with one coat of Confetti My Favorite Martian.

Surprisingly, I got a ton of compliments on this manicure. It’s definitely an eye catching combination.

There are a couple more pictures below the jump.

Confetti Happy Birthday!

I figured I’d just keep the purple theme going! After I saw the new Confetti display at CVS not too long ago I started thinking about some of the awesome Confetti polishes I have in my stash. Happy Birthday! is by far the most awesome.

Katie gave me this polish for my birthday last year and it is just gorgeous! It is a blackened purple jelly packed with super pretty slightly larger than microglitter. Happy Birthday! is a jelly, so I needed 3 coats to get mostly opaque color.

Overall, this is a fabulous polish for $1.99! There is a macro shot of this gorgeous polish below the jump 🙂

Confetti My Favorite Martian over MAC Dry Martini

Confetti My Favorite Martian is a borderline jelly, so I thought it may look good layered. I decided to give it a try over MAC Dry Martini. I actually like the way it turned out. Layering My Favorite Martian over a darker green took a but of the yellow out of MFM, which, for my skintone, helps quite a bit. This is definitely something I will do again.

Sorry for the messy picture! The day I did this manicure the natural light was almost gone and I wanted to get a picture. I didn’t have a chance to clean it up 🙂

Confetti My Favorite Martian

Confetti My Favorite MartianBy now I think everyone has heard about Confetti’s legal problems. Due to this I decided I better get on over to CVS and pick up My Favorite Martian. I’ve looked at it several times but for one reason or another never picked it up (very well knowing it’d be there the next time I was in CVS). I have no idea how long Confetti will be held up in court, but if you have a specific Confetti color you want, it’s best to go ahead and pick it up.

My Favorite Martian is a yellow based green with tons of microglitter. I think this polish is close to being ugly pretty. It’s definitely not the prettiest green in the world, but for some reason I really like it.

I have no complaints about the application. I did use three coats. The first coat was rather streaky but after the third I had a streak free, opaque color.

Confetti My Favorite Martian macroTo me this looks like a less yellow version of Orly It’s Not Rocket Science from the Cosmic FX collection. And by less yellow I mean, I can actually wear it!

Overall I have had extremely good luck with the Confetti brand. I own 2 others, Happy Birthday! and Centerstage (this post also has info about the price, brush, bottle etc) and love both. Hopefully they can work out their legal problems 🙂

Confetti Happy Birthday!

Confetti Happy Birthday! So basically I have the best BFF ever. Katie, my fellow nail polish fanatic and  TDV’er, gave me this for my birthday (how appropriate!). My birthday was back in June and I’m just now getting around to trying this. In the bottle it didn’t jump out at me. Sure, it’s purple with glitter (two of my favorite things), but I have a million of those, right?

Happy Birthday! really surprised me when I put it on the nail. First of all, it’s a jelly. I don’t know why but I’ve been obsessed with jelly’s lately! And as the icing on the cake (pun totally intended) it’s packed full of purple glitter. The glitter isn’t chunky, but it’s not microglitter either. It’s a nice in between size.

Confetti Happy Birthday

This turned out to be more of a blurple on the nail then I imagined. It definitely has some blue undertones that show up in the sun. The blue base of this polish is what makes it different from SinfulColors I Love You and the glitter in this polish is definitively purple which is what makes it different from Arissa Rockin’ Amethyst.

I only have one other Confetti polish and I really loved it. Definitely worth the $1.99 price tag. For info regarding wear and/or pictures of the bottle or brush check out my post on Confetti Centerstage.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Confetti Centerstage

Confetti CenterstageI’m really quite happy CVS finally has an answer to Walgreen’s SinfulColors. Like Sinful Colors, Confetti polishes are $1.99, though they are only .37 oz.

Centerstage is a red based purple packed with blue and red micro glitter. It’s a really pretty purple. Dark, but never looks black. Depending on the light it can look more blue or more red. In direct sunlight it appears more blue than red. But in indoor light it appears to be more on the red side.

Confetti CenterstageI had no idea what to expect when it came to application, but I was pleasantly surprised. The polish is somewhat thin, so I needed three coats, but it applied very evenly. Didn’t give my any trouble.

As far as the bottle and the brush go…the Confetti bottle and brush certainly aren’t my favorite. The top feels like really cheap plastic and I don’t particularly love the bottle shape. But the brush is fine, not too thin, not too thick. And like I said before, I didn’t have any application issues which, in the end, is the most important thing.

I was impressed by the wear of this polish. I have a (probably bad) habit of changing my manicure almost everyday, but I wore this for 3 days without a single chip. I used my normal base coat and Seche Vite as a top coat.

Overall I am impressed with this brand and this particular polish. Hopefully they’ll add some more colors, as right now there aren’t that many unique colors.
