For those of you that read this blog on a regular basis then you know we don’t spend alot of time covering indie brands. When I say indie brands I don’t necessarily mean Lex Cosmetics, Market Street Soap Works or Cult Nails, though all of those are, in fact, indie brands. I’m talking more about small operations sold via Etsy that have little to no name recognition outside of the nail polish community.
The reason we don’t cover those types of brands doesn’t have anything with the actual nail polish. It just has to do with how easy (or in this case, difficult) it is to get your hands on these polishes.
So, the moral of all of this is, on occasion when I find an indie brand polish that I really like I do want to share it. In this case, Cindy, the owner/creator/everything of Shimmer Polish sent me several of her polishes to try. I was in the mood for a glitter manicure so I started looking through the polishes. Jennifer caught my eye because it looked unique plus the pastel glitter colors seemed perfect for the transition into spring.
Jessica contains green, orange, yellow/gold, blue, pink and purple glitter in varying sizes suspended in a clear base. You can get a really good look at the glitter combination here. All this glitter together on the nail gives a sort of blueish silver metallic effect. It’s really pretty.
I will admit I was worried about the formula. Luckily, it was fantastic. I used three coats to get opaque coverage on the nail. This polish could easily be layered over almost any color using just one coat (I used Jennifer as an accent nail here).
There are, of course, more swatches below the jump!
