OPI GoldenEye

I had decided to pass entirely on OPI’s James Bond 007 Skyfall collection. When I first heard about the collection I was pretty excited. I love James Bond! But OPI failed to name a polish after my favorite Bond movie (For Your Eyes Only) and I wasn’t overly impressed with the polishes when I saw them in person. I also managed to do a DIY version of The Man With the Golden Gun so there seemed to be no reason to get into the collection.

But then I found myself in Ulta with a $5 off coupon while the boy was at the eye doctor. I left with the Skyfall mini set which includes The Spy Who Loved Me, The World is Not Enough and Live and Let Die along with GoldenEye (interesting that it doesn’t include Skyfall…).

GoldenEye is a polish I would have never picked up if it wasn’t in this set. It is very yellow gold small flaky glitter suspended in a clear base. The glitter is quite dense which surprised me a bit. I used three coats in my swatches and it was mostly opaque.

This is incredibly gorgeous on the nail. The polish is super reflective and eye catching. It reminds me a bit of Maybelline Gold Accessory. Unfortunately, it’s a really bad color for my skintone. Like, really bad. It’s just not wearable if you have a cool skintone. So  I decided to try it as a top coat.

The glitter in this polish is quite dense but it still looked amazing over OPI Sapphire in the Snow. At first I wasn’t sold, but I ended up wearing GoldenEye and Sapphire in the Snow for days. I was so sad when I had to take it off! I also think this would look amazing sponged over a darker color a la this manicure. That’s definitely on my list of manicures to do!

If you have a warm skintone this is a must have polish for you. I promise you will not be disappointed!

  1. I also would not normally have picked this Goldeneye up but a friend talked me into it when she had it on and really was talking it up. I am not a huge gold glitter fan – but admit this one is different. It’s a different gold shade than I have seen before and to my eye does not come off cheap or teenager looking. Never would have thought to sponge it over another shade – great call on that one!

    • Yeah…I hesitate to even use the word glitter because it brings up a completely different image in ny head! This is definitely unique and not cheap looking at all 🙂

  2. Nice review on this color! I didn’t think I would be into it, but I currently have it on with On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and I think that offsets it from being too over the top. ( check out my pics: ecklipsedbycolor.blogspot.com)

  3. I think this is definitely too yellow for me to pull off but I really love it! It looks great as a topcoat here too!

  4. I like the combination of Saphire in the Snow and Golden Eye.

  8. When I saw the new collection, GoldenEye immediatly caught my eye, but I have a cool skin tone, and Im quite pale, so I suppose it won‘t suit me, or would it?
