Nail Art: Watermelon Tips

Nothing says the start of Summer like a little watermelon, right? For Memorial Day every year my family does a small cookout just to honor the two veterans in my immediate family. So I was trying to think of a cook out appropriate manicure and watermelon for one reason or another came to mind. I decided to roll with it and this is what I came up with!

The main polish I used for this design was OPI Strawberry Margarita. It’s one of my favorite polishes and the perfect watermelon pink. To “draw” the watermelon tips I started with a coat of Essie Room With a View, then 2 coats of Ulta Limelight, topped that with Ulta Snow White, then added Strawberry Margarita and used LA Colors Art Deco in Black for the seeds.

I think this turned out super cute and very appropriate for an unofficial beginning of summer cook out. I only did the watermelon tips on the ring and thumb nail because I think doing it on all the nails would have been too much. If for Memorial Day you were looking for a bit more patriotic nail art you can check out my Glitter and Stripes nail art 🙂

Below the jump there’s another swatch as well as a macro shot of the thumb design.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Memorial Day!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this manicure!!! It is too cute! Is there another green you might suggest if I don’t have Ulta Limelight? I own China Glaze In the Limelight, would that work?

    • I think China Glaze In the Limelight may be a bit too bright. But really, any kind of green with yellow undertones will work!

  2. So cute! I love it!

  3. This is SO ADORABLE!! I just love it….love the colors and love the idea! Perfect for summertime! Thanks for sharing :]
