Finger Paints Easel-y Entertained

This is the last of the three Finger Paints polishes I picked up during Sally’s buy 2 get 1 free sale. I loved Grape Gumball and Louvre This Pink so I was excited to give this polish a try. Unfortunately this was my least favorite of the three.

Easel-y Entertained is small violet glitter suspended in a sheer matching base. In the bottle this looks absolutely stunning but on the nail it falls short. To use this on its own, at least 4 coats are required. Which would be ok except it dries to this terrible bumpy finish that completely takes away from the shimmer and  makes the polish look dull. Even after 2 thick coats of top coat.

In order to rectify the dull finish situation I thought I’d try this over another polish. Even with only one coat over China Glaze Grape Pop it left that unfortunate bumpy finish. So now I’m just at a loss with what to do with this polish. It is SO PRETTY in the bottle….I hate to let it go to waste! So if anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know in the comments…because right now this just seems kind of like a not as good version of China Glaze Skyscraper.

There is a macro shot as well as swatches of Easel-y Entertained over Grape Pop below the jump!

  1. Have you tried Gelous? When I have a gritty-finish polish I usually slap down a coat of Gelous because it’s pretty thick and it levels out to a sexy-smooth finish. Despite the thickness it seems to dry pretty fast as well.

  2. oh, @Brandi gelous is a good idea, i also usually have good luck with a gelous top coat over gritty polish. seche vite is what i normally use when i need a normal to thick topcoat.

do you have anything like zoya restore that would act like a thinner? i guess that would be a last resort, or something to try with a portion of your bottle instead of the whole bottle.

    • I don’t have any thinner (though that’s something I should probably have….). If the Gelous doesn’t work I’ll give that a shot!

  3. I have had a few (well more than a few) polishes that are dull and/or gritty and/or don’t look so good on me (okay mostly the latter). I also had pair of very ordinary glass salt and pepper shakers. The assortment of polishes dabbed onto the glass makes them look like I paid a fortune for them. I sprayed a bit of clear laquer (covering the top ends with tape, so no poisonings and the tops still screw on). I liked the effect so much, I even dabbed some polish onto clear Christmas ornaments. If it doesn’t work for your nails, it could work for something else…

  4. I really love FingerPaints glitter polish, but I was left with the same issue. I guess perhaps I was okay with the matte look so I wasn’t bothered by it. I’m a fan of the matte look for my toes, so I’m using them that way.
