I have wanted this particular polish for ages so I was beyond excited when I saw Ulta was carrying a select few Barielle polishes. I picked this up along with Tight Knit.
Barielle describes Slate of Affairs as “worn denim.” I don’t really see that in this polish. It is more of a dusty bluish gray with flashes of blue microglitter. It’s a very pretty color and unique. I have nothing like it in my collection.
Application was just ok. This formula is a bit on the thin side, but covered well in three coats.
I do hope Ulta starts carrying more Barielle. So far all I’ve seen is the Fall 2010 Style in Argyle collection and less than 10 polishes from their permanent collection (including this one, obviously). It took me awhile to find the permanent line. Generally Ulta has an entire side of their nail polish display dedicated to a particular brand (OPI, Essie, China Glaze and Orly). They added the Barielle at the bottom of the China Glaze side of the display. So if you can’t find them immediately, keep looking, they are likely there just hiding among the other brands.
